Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

I was part of a cross-functional team of Human Centered Design Practitioners and Subject Matter Experts who focused on unifying the Center for Medicaid & CHIP Services' products and services. My work was centered around driving improved operations through growing HCD practices for Medicaid and CHIP programs that provide care to over 77 million individuals across 56 states and territories.

This project required US Federal government clearance, so I am unable to show detailed work or process. I can only speak in general terms about my role, process, and impact.

OUR TEAM MANDATE

Our team of 10 was an enterprise HCD team within the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services. We had service designers, researchers, Subject Matter Experts, UX designers, and engineers. Our role was to help grow HCD practices and support HCD activities throughout the organization by:

  • Set and maintain HCD standards and tools, and provide resources

  • Set up and maintain organization-wide research repository

  • Advise on projects (assisting product/service teams on short-to-medium term projects with HCD components)

  • Host community of practice meetings

  • Set up design operations for the organization

  • Advocate for HCD with leadership and help drive organizational-wide strategies for growing HCD
