Alien Neighbors
Alien Neighbors is an interactive, astronomical data visualization I created using real exoplanet data from the Kepler Mission telescope. The interface lets a user pick a random planet from the Kepler sample, then the planet’s relative orbit speed is visualized around its host star. The host stars temperature is visualized via a color scale and one can compare the exoplanet and its host star’s sizes with the ones of Earth and the Sun. As users interact with the tool, voices play in the background: it’s the words "Greetings from Earth" in fifty-five languages, as they have been written on the Golden Record of the Voyager I mission.
